Grants

Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, the world's largest breast cancer organization, has awarded more than $730 million in research grants. Here locally, the Northwest Louisiana Affiliate is proud to be a part of that investment. 25% of all of the funds raised by this affiliate are dedicated to Komen headquarters and renowned grants program. In 2011, the affiliates of Susan G. Komen for the Cure invested over 32.6 million dollars into national grants and over 270.1 million to date. Currently, there are 2,000 research grants and 582 active grants currently underway. The national grants program funds high impact research, research dedicated to reducing incidence and mortality in this decade through treatment, early detection, biology and more. In 2012, the goal of the national grants program is to focus on prevention strategies for recurence and risk factors for recurrence, all such a significant part of the reduction of disease.
