Affiliates like Northwest Louisiana play a special role in Susan G. Komen's vision of creating a world without breast cancer. Affiliates are Komen's hands and feet in the community. We help ensure that information and resouces reach those who need it most. While Komen has made great advances over the last three decades in understanding the causes of breast cancer, how it behaves in the body and successful treatments, there are many people who still do not receive regular mammogrms or have access to quality breast cancer treatment. Komen Affiliates make grants to support local programs that address specific needs related to breast cancer. All grants funded by the Affiliate should directly dress one or more of the priorities identified in our Community Profile.
To help provide potential grant applicants with instruction, resources and tools to submit a high quality application, NWLA will host a Grant Writing Workshop. Applicants and current grantees are strongly encouraged to attend one of the sessions to be held in the fall of 2015 at the NWLA Susan G. Komen office, 2015 Fairfield Ave. Suite 2C, Shreveport, LA 71104. (elevator provided in middle of building)
This workshop will include application training and instructions for using our new online Grants e-Management System (GeMS). All grant applications must be submitted online using GeMS. Small grant applications are accepted on a year round basis, while Community Grant applications are only accepted once a year during a competitive application period, traditionally in the fall. To access GeMS, please refer to GeMS Helpful Hints, under How to Apply for Funding tab.
